The class has helped me a lot. It was kind of weird being in English 3 even though I'm a senior. The story on how that happened is complicated, but now I understand how we transitioned to analyzing the characters in books. I've learned how to write poems now because of those assignments you made us for homework and I know how to write essays much faster. All the timed writing assignments were such a big help. In college I'm sure that these strategies you taught us will be very helpful in college when we have to write essays.
The essay that I felt was difficult to write was the argumentation essay. It seemed as if we didn't focus on it as long as we did the other essays. We had the synthesis binder the entire first semester and we focused one the rhetorical analysis in between that. The easiest essay probably had to be the rhetorical analysis because it was easy to spot the strategies in the text since we studied them for awhile. Once you have your devices the rest is super easy.
My favorite book had to be The Things They Carried because it was about war. The book was very descriptive about the soldiers and everything they experienced. It was suspenseful and generated tons of imagery for the reader. It was exciting book overall.
In Cold Blood was my least favorite novel because it was a very slow read. I had to go back and reread certain parts because I would get off track and just get lost on what was going on.
That's pretty much it Mr.Thomas. thanks for being an awesome teacher. Thanks for giving me advice for school and outside of school as well. Keep doing what your're doing because and one day you wil be remembered as the best AP English Lang teacher ever!
